Call Follow Me

The phone system can ring different numbers looking for a person with the call “follow me” feature. If your desk phone isn’t answered, a cell phone or any other telephone number can be called in the chosen order. While the caller is waiting for you to pick up, they can listens to a message, music, or a dial tone similar to a regular call.

Example “Follow Me” Call

A follow me call might ring several phones to find you, but it appears to be a regular call to the incoming caller.

  1. An outside caller places a call to Sandy’s Desk phone, extension 4000
  2. Desk phone for user Sandy rings. No answer
  3. Sandy’s house phone rings.
  4. Sandy’s husband picks up and hears a voice “Please press any key to accept a call for extension 4000.”
  5. Sandy’s husband hangs up and continues a practice put across the living room.
  6. Sandy’s cell phone rings.
  7. Sandy picks up and hears a voice “Please press any key to accept a call for extension 4000.”
  8. Sandy presses 1 and the call is connected. She says “Hello this is Sandy”.
  9. The incoming caller had no idea that 3 phones rang to get to Sandy.

Mobile Availability

People that move around from one area to another throughout the day can benefit from the call follow me feature. When someone is trying to reach you, they can use the same main number they have become acustomed to but increase the chances that it will be answered. Call follow me can try to reach you at any telephone number or extension.
